DOT pre-employment drug test for new hires
Every safety-sensitive employee needs a verified negative DOT drug test before their first regulated shift. Send us the candidate and we handle the order, the collection site, the certified lab, and the MRO review — with most results back in 24-48 hours.

How a pre-employment test works
1. Send us the hire
Give us the candidate's name, email, and city. No account setup required for a single test.
2. Driver gets an order
We email an authorization form with the nearest participating collection site and its hours.
3. Collection
A trained collector runs a DOT-compliant 5-panel urine collection under federal chain of custody.
4. Lab and MRO
A SAMHSA-certified lab analyzes the specimen; every non-negative is verified by a Medical Review Officer.
5. Result to you
Negatives are typically reported back in 24-48 hours, with an audit-ready record on file.
What's included
Nationwide collection network
Access to 2,000+ participating collection sites across all 50 states, including 24/7 locations for late hires.
24-48 hour turnaround
Most negative results are verified and reported within one to two business days of the collection.
DOT 5-panel, federally compliant
Marijuana, cocaine, opioids, amphetamines, and PCP — the exact panel 49 CFR Part 40 requires.
MRO review included
Every non-negative is reviewed by a licensed Medical Review Officer before anything is reported to you.
Audit-ready records
Chain-of-custody forms and verified results stored in one place you can hand to a DOT auditor.
Non-DOT options too
Need a 10-panel, hair follicle, or rapid screen for a non-regulated role? We run those on the same account.
What drivers and employers say
“Our DOT pre-employment drug test turnaround dropped from a week to about a day, which means new drivers start on time.”
“Candidates get scheduled at a collection site near them, and the MRO-verified result lands in our file ready for an audit.”
“The Clearinghouse query and testing steps were explained clearly, so we stopped guessing at what we owed before a driver could work.”
Pre-employment questions we get
What is a DOT pre-employment drug test?
A federally required 5-panel urine test. The employee cannot perform any safety-sensitive duty until the result comes back verified negative.
How fast are results?
Negatives are typically verified in 24-48 hours. Non-negatives take longer because the MRO must reach the donor first.
What is on the DOT 5-panel?
Marijuana, cocaine, opioids (including hydrocodone, oxycodone, hydromorphone, oxymorphone), amphetamines, and PCP.
Do I still need a Clearinghouse query?
Yes. For CDL drivers, a full pre-employment Clearinghouse query is required in addition to the drug test.
What if the hire already failed a test elsewhere?
They must complete the SAP return-to-duty process first. Start with our Step 5 return-to-duty service.
Can you also enroll them in a random pool?
Yes — DOT-regulated employees must be in a random testing pool. Our consortium handles selections for you.
